Licenses, Accreditations, Approvals, and Memberships

Hunter Business School is happy to inform its community of stakeholders that as of December 2, 2016, Hunter has obtained candidacy status for accreditation by the Commissions on Secondary Schools, Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, and plans to be fully accredited after the autumn 2017 commissioner’s meeting.

Middle States candidate status is granted after hosting a one-day site visit to verify the institution’s potential to meet the 12 standards for full accreditation and approval status. The president of Middle States then reviews the site visitors’ report and determines if the school is ready to participate in the full accreditation process and likely to succeed. The institution must also provide evidence of current state regulatory approval.

As of December 12, 2016, Hunter’s accreditor, the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), is no longer recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. As a result, all of its accredited schools, including Hunter Business School, need to obtain a new accreditor by June 2018.

If any student has a complaint relating to Hunter Business School’s Title IV eligibility, administration of the Title IV programs, the quality of education received at Hunter Business School, or the accreditation standards of ACICS, he/she can submit said complaint to
